Secaucus commuters and residents are about to get three new snack options at the Secaucus Junction train station, finally filling a storefront that has sat vacant for four years. The prime retail space, formerly occupied by the long-closed Sbarro’s pizza, is being transformed into a multi-brand food concession featuring Auntie Anne’s pretzels, Cinnabon rolls, and Carvel ice cream.
This change is a upgrade for the thousands of daily riders passing through the busy NJ Transit hub. The previous tenant, Sbarro’s, closed its doors about four years ago, leaving a gap in quick-service food options for commuters.
The new establishment is being run by ANK Companies, who are presumably leasing the space from NJ Transit. While there is no official opening date yet, employees have recently been seen training on site. A large “We Are Hiring” banner is currently displayed, signaling new job opportunities in the area. The imminent opening means Secaucus commuters will soon have a much-needed, wider variety of snacks and treats available during their daily travel.
