Secaucus residents were heartbroken in February when local legend Mike Flaherty, owner and operator of Mike’s Ice Cream, passed away. The shop, a staple for over 40 years, was famous for its unique and delicious flavors, especially the “Oreo Smash.” Many wondered about the fate of Mike’s legacy.
We’re thrilled to announce that the wait is over! As of August 1st, the shop has reopened under the new name “Uncle D’s Ice Cream”. But don’t worry, Secaucus – you’ll still find the same beloved recipes, familiar faces behind the counter, and even classic Mike’s memorabilia adorning the walls.
A recent Facebook post by the new owners assured customers, “We will strive to bring you the same quality and as many of the same flavors along with some exciting new ones!” Judging by the long lines and positive comments on opening day, it seems they’ve succeeded. One commenter even declared, “The place looks great, the ice cream was delicious as always, and we didn’t mind the long line because we made some friends in line!”
For now, Uncle D’s is a cash-only establishment, open from 12 pm to 10 pm daily. Stop by and taste the legacy of Mike’s Ice Cream, reinvented as Uncle D’s.
