Secaucus commuters, get ready for a futuristic upgrade at your daily transit hub! NJ TRANSIT is teaming up with Conduent Transportation to install some seriously modern “3D” fare gates at Secaucus Junction (and Newark Airport too!). Peep the pic – these aren’t your grandma’s turnstiles!

These towering, sleek silver gates (almost 8 feet tall!) are about to land in the coming months, promising a smoother and more secure way to tap your way onto the train. These new sentinels boast transparent barriers and cool illuminated signs to guide your way.

What’s the “3D” all about? While the specifics are still a bit hush-hush, these gates look like they pack some serious tech. Each one sports a digital screen and a QR scanner, so your digital tickets should still work the same. Plus, we spotted wider gates clearly marked for accessibility ♿️ – a big win for everyone!

“It sounds interesting,” commented local resident and daily commuter, Tom Evans. “But I’m curious about what exactly makes them ‘3D’ and how they’ll actually speed things up, especially during the morning rush. Hopefully, it won’t create any new bottlenecks.”

NJ TRANSIT says this is all about modernizing and making sure fare collection is on point. They’ve been partners with Conduent for ages, and this move follows a similar rollout in Philly that reportedly boosted revenue. Could this mean fewer fare hikes down the line? We can only hope!
